What Polar data reaches Gemini
The direct Polar connection reads your account through Polar's own API, so it does not depend on what Polar Flow writes to Apple Health or Health Connect. Training sessions arrive with their heart rate zones and laps, running sessions also land in your run history, and strength sessions keep their results.
Overnight data comes through too: sleep stages and Polar's sleep score, plus the HRV, resting heart rate, and breathing rate behind Nightly Recharge. That puts Polar training and recovery on the same timeline as nutrition, labs, and any other source you connect.
Gemini does not receive a bulk wearable export. It asks Wellness Project for the supported rows needed for the question, through the authorized custom MCP app in Gemini.
How to connect Polar to Gemini
Your setup screen may look different.
AI assistants change their settings and navigation frequently. Menu names and steps can vary by web, desktop, or mobile client, device and operating system, plan, account type, version, and staged rollout. Treat the instructions on this page as a current guide and look for the equivalent Apps, Connectors, Plugins, or MCP controls if your version differs.
Connect Polar in Wellness Project
Open Settings → Devices → Polar and sign in with your Polar account to authorize read access. Wellness Project reads Polar directly; no phone health hub is involved.
Let your Polar history fill in
Recent days sync first, then background sync works backward through older supported history. Check a recent training session and last night's sleep in Wellness Project before connecting the assistant.
Add Wellness Project as a custom app in Gemini
On gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected apps (or Personal intelligence → Connected apps). Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app, paste https://wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, click Next, and sign in to authorize. No client credentials are required.
Ask Gemini about your real history
Start with a bounded date range and a concrete question. For example: "How did my overnight HRV and resting heart rate move during my last three hard training weeks?" The assistant can then request the relevant Wellness Project rows instead of reasoning from a screenshot or one-off export.
What to ask Gemini once Polar is connected
The useful prompts compare your own history over time. These examples are shaped around the data this source actually sends to Wellness Project.
- How did my overnight HRV and resting heart rate move during my last three hard training weeks?
- Compare my weekly running volume with my Polar sleep score over the last two months.
- Which training sessions this month spent the most time in my higher heart rate zones, and how did I sleep afterward?
Limits of the Polar → Wellness Project → Gemini path
The connection is read-only and checks Polar on a schedule, so a new session can take a little while to appear. History fills in progressively rather than all at once.
Polar's own Nightly Recharge status and ANS charge are not stored as separate scores. The assistant reads the overnight HRV, resting heart rate, and breathing rate behind them. GPS routes from training sessions are not imported.
Gemini is reading an authorized Wellness Project MCP connection, not a native Polar integration supplied by Gemini's developer.
Connect Polar, then ask Gemini.
Sync the supported history into Wellness Project, authorize Gemini, and ask questions against your real trend instead of exporting files or pasting screenshots.
