Cardio Age
A more complete view of cardiovascular fitness than one wearable number.
Wellness Project Cardio Age is an age-shaped summary of cardiovascular fitness built primarily from VO2 max, with resting heart rate and observed heart-rate reserve added when available plus a small HRV-trend adjustment. It is a fitness estimate, not a medical or biological age.

Comprehensive cardio metric
VO2 max anchors the result. Heart data adds context when it is trustworthy.
When all core inputs are available, the current model gives 75% of the base estimate to VO2-derived age, 15% to recent resting heart rate, and 10% to observed heart-rate reserve. Missing inputs are reweighted rather than invented.
VO2 max is the primary anchor
A recent VO2 max estimate carries most of the metric because cardiorespiratory fitness is the clearest direct signal in the model. Older VO2 data receives a small freshness adjustment instead of being treated as equally current forever.
Resting heart rate adds a stable recent signal
When available and independent, a recent resting-heart-rate window contributes to the base age estimate. The model looks for a stable recent signal rather than overreacting to one morning.
Observed heart-rate reserve adds exercise context
Credible observed exercise heart rate can contribute through heart-rate reserve. If the VO2 estimate was itself derived from heart-rate inputs, Wellness Project avoids double-counting the same evidence.
HRV is directional, not an age lookup
HRV does not create an absolute “HRV age.” Only the direction of a recent-versus-prior HRV trend can make a small bounded adjustment, so a naturally high or low personal baseline is not turned into a fake population age.
Provisional when the evidence is thinner
If VO2 max is unavailable but credible heart-rate evidence exists, Cardio Age can be provisional. The status and confidence stay visible so a thin estimate does not masquerade as a precise measurement.

Cardio Age
Cardio Age is a fitness summary, not a diagnosis.
Different apps define “cardio age,” “fitness age,” and “cardiovascular age” differently. Wellness Project uses the term for a transparent cardiovascular-fitness model, not for a clinical vascular-age test and not for a claim about the biological age of your heart. The number is intentionally approximate, and its value is in the trend plus the inputs behind it. If your source data changes, the result can change. Medical symptoms, cardiovascular disease risk, and treatment decisions still belong with a qualified clinician.
