Cardio age is a model, not a direct measurement
A lab can measure cardiorespiratory fitness such as VO2 max more directly, but “cardio age” is created by a formula that translates one or more fitness signals into an age-shaped number. Some products mostly invert a VO2 max reference curve. Others may add heart-rate or activity information. That means the useful questions are what inputs the model uses, whether those inputs are current, and whether you can see the evidence behind the result.
How Wellness Project calculates Cardio Age
Wellness Project Cardio Age is an age-shaped summary of cardiovascular fitness built primarily from VO2 max, with resting heart rate and observed heart-rate reserve added when available plus a small HRV-trend adjustment. It is a fitness estimate, not a medical or biological age.
See Cardio Age with the evidence attached.
Wellness Project keeps VO2 max, resting heart rate, heart-rate reserve, HRV trend, and confidence context next to the result instead of hiding everything behind one number.
Read the trend with the confidence and inputs beside it
A difference of a year or two should not be treated like a clinical event. Wearable VO2 estimates vary, resting heart rate moves with recovery and illness, and exercise heart-rate evidence depends on what was actually recorded. Wellness Project keeps the evidence tier visible and can label a result provisional when the input set is thinner. That makes the number more useful as a directional fitness summary than as a verdict about the condition of your heart.
