Grok

Wellness Project

Log lunch: chicken burrito bowl with rice, black beans, and guac.

Logged. ~720 kcal · 42g P · 78g C · 28g F. You're at 96/165g protein for today.

Am I on track for my weekly step goal?

Close. 48,200 steps through Thursday vs a 70k goal — that's ~10.9k/day needed over the weekend.

Grok

Connect Grok to your fitness tracker and log it all by chat.

Wellness Project connects to Grok, the AI assistant from xAI, as a custom MCP connector. Tell Grok what you ate, how you trained, or how you slept, and it lands structured in the right tracker — then Grok reads your trends back when you ask. It’s the same OAuth-protected MCP server Claude and ChatGPT use, and Grok registers itself, so there’s no API key or Client ID to paste.

What's inside

Grok as the front-end for logging and tracking your health

Log meals from Grok

"Log lunch: chicken burrito bowl, rice, and guac." Grok hands it to Wellness Project, which estimates the calories and macros and files it in your nutrition log — no label-scanning, no forms.

Log workouts from Grok

"Log my push day: bench 4x6 at 195, OHP 4x8 at 115." Grok structures the sets and reps; Wellness Project saves the session and detects PRs.

Log sleep, weight, and more

Most modules Wellness Project tracks are callable from Grok — sleep, body weight, supplements, recovery, wellbeing, runs, lab results.

Read your data in Grok

Ask "how did training look this week?" or "is my HRV up?" and Grok queries Wellness Project for the real figures — and can draw the answer as a live inline chart (Fit Score, training, sleep, steps, recovery, runs, weight, or lift progression) instead of a wall of text.

Grok registers itself — no key, no Client ID

Unlike a Claude API key or Le Chat's required Client ID, Grok self-registers over OAuth. Paste the URL, sign in, done.

No tunneling, no hosting

The server is publicly reachable at wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, so — unlike a local MCP server — there is nothing to expose with ngrok or a Cloudflare Tunnel.

Step by step

Connect Grok in four steps

  1. 1
    Open Grok’s Connectors page

In grok.com, go to Settings → Connectors (or grok.com/connectors), click New Connector, then choose Custom. Custom connectors are part of Grok’s Connectors feature and may require a paid Grok plan.

  2. 2
    Paste the MCP server URL

Enter wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp and leave Client ID and Client Secret blank — Grok registers itself automatically.

  3. 3
    Sign in to authorize

A Wellness Project sign-in window opens over OAuth. Sign in with the same account you use in the app and approve; Grok then loads the tool list.

  4. 4
    Just start talking

In any Grok chat, say things like "log my workout" or "what did I eat yesterday?" Grok picks the right tool on its own.

In the app

Most Grok fitness advice tells you to prompt it. This lets you keep the data.

There’s a lot of interest in using Grok for nutrition and training — asking it to generate a meal plan or a workout. That’s generating, not tracking. Nothing persists. Wellness Project is the missing half: connect it once and every meal, set, and night of sleep you mention to Grok is logged and kept, so it compounds into trends instead of scrolling out of the chat.

The connection is a two-way MCP link. Grok writes to your tracker when you log, and reads from it when you ask — “did my running volume go up last week?” pulls your real weekly mileage and compares it to the prior week. It’s the same /api/mcp endpoint and the same tool set Claude and ChatGPT reach, so your data layer is identical no matter which assistant you prefer.

The in-app walkthrough with screenshots is at Settings → Grok. If you’d rather use a different assistant, the same server works with Claude, ChatGPT, and Mistral Le Chat.

FAQ

FAQ

How do I connect Grok to a fitness tracker?+
In grok.com, open Settings → Connectors → New Connector → Custom, paste wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, leave Client ID and Client Secret blank, and sign in when Grok opens the Wellness Project authorization window. Full steps with screenshots are at Settings → Grok in Wellness Project.
Do I need a Client ID or API key for Grok?+
No. Grok registers itself automatically over OAuth, so both the Client ID and Client Secret fields stay blank. (Claude uses an API key for Desktop, and Mistral Le Chat requires a Client ID — Grok needs neither.)
Does connecting a custom MCP server to Grok require tunneling or ngrok?+
No. Wellness Project is publicly hosted at wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, so there is nothing to tunnel. Tunneling with ngrok or Cloudflare is only needed for MCP servers running on your own machine.
What Grok plan do I need?+
Custom connectors are part of Grok’s Connectors feature. Availability depends on your Grok plan, and the custom-connector option may require a paid tier — check grok.com/connectors for what your account shows.
Can Grok log my meals and workouts, not just suggest them?+
Yes — that’s the point. Instead of Grok generating a plan that disappears, it writes each meal, set, and sleep entry to your Wellness Project account, where it becomes trackable history you can query later.
Is my data shared with xAI?+
Only the slice Grok pulls during your active conversation. We don’t batch-export your data; the model sees what it asks for, when it asks, over an OAuth connection you can revoke anytime.
