What MyFitnessPal data reaches ChatGPT
MyFitnessPal is useful to an AI assistant once its food diary is sitting in the same history as the rest of your data. The CSV importer reads a MyFitnessPal export the same way it reads any spreadsheet: it matches columns such as meal, food, calories, and the fat, carbs, and protein grams to the fields Wellness Project stores, then stages every row for you to review before anything is saved.
That imported diary can sit next to weight, workouts, and wearable data from other Wellness Project sources. Because it is an import rather than a live connection, meals logged in MyFitnessPal after the export will not show up until you export and import again.
ChatGPT does not receive a bulk wearable export. It asks Wellness Project for the supported rows needed for the question, through the authorized Wellness Project custom app/MCP connection.
How to connect MyFitnessPal to ChatGPT
Your setup screen may look different.
AI assistants change their settings and navigation frequently. Menu names and steps can vary by web, desktop, or mobile client, device and operating system, plan, account type, version, and staged rollout. Treat the instructions on this page as a current guide and look for the equivalent Apps, Connectors, Plugins, or MCP controls if your version differs.
Export your diary from MyFitnessPal
Open MyFitnessPal's export tool and download your food diary as a CSV for the date range you want. Data export is a Premium and Premium+ feature; a free MyFitnessPal account cannot generate this file.
Import the CSV into Wellness Project
Open Import in Wellness Project, choose meals, and upload the MyFitnessPal CSV. Review the column mapping and every staged row, then confirm the import.
Check the imported meals
Open your meal history in Wellness Project and confirm the dates, calories, and macros from the import look right before asking the assistant about them.
Connect Wellness Project to ChatGPT
Open Settings → ChatGPT in Wellness Project and follow the current custom app/MCP connection flow, then sign in and authorize access. ChatGPT connects to Wellness Project, not to the underlying device account.
Ask ChatGPT about your real history
Start with a bounded date range and a concrete question. For example: "Looking at my imported MyFitnessPal meals, which days were furthest under or over my protein target?" The assistant can then request the relevant Wellness Project rows instead of reasoning from a screenshot or one-off export.
What to ask ChatGPT once MyFitnessPal is connected
The useful prompts compare your own history over time. These examples are shaped around the data this source actually sends to Wellness Project.
- Looking at my imported MyFitnessPal meals, which days were furthest under or over my protein target?
- Summarize the average calories and macros from the diary I imported, broken out by week.
- Which meals in my imported history had the highest calories for the least protein?
Limits of the MyFitnessPal → Wellness Project → ChatGPT path
This is a one-time CSV import, not a live sync. A meal logged in MyFitnessPal after you export will not appear in Wellness Project until you export and import again.
MyFitnessPal's data export tool is limited to Premium and Premium+ accounts. A free account cannot generate the CSV this import needs.
The importer holds up to 5,000 rows and 8 MB per file, enough for most diary exports; a very long history may need to be split across a few imports.
ChatGPT is reading an authorized Wellness Project MCP connection, not a native MyFitnessPal integration supplied by ChatGPT's developer.
Connect MyFitnessPal, then ask ChatGPT.
Import your MyFitnessPal export into Wellness Project, authorize ChatGPT, and ask questions against your real history instead of pasting screenshots.
