How the relay actually works
Start with the story, because it is also the proof. Our founder weighs in on a Wyze scale every morning. The scale hands the reading to the Wyze app, the Wyze app writes it into Apple Health, Wellness Project reads Apple Health, and by the time coffee is ready he can ask Claude how the last two weeks are trending and get a chart back. A forty-dollar scale, the health hub already on the phone, and the AI he was going to open anyway. That is the whole setup, and it runs every day.
Now the honest part, because it is the whole point. There is no direct link between Wyze and Wellness Project, no Wyze API on our side, and no Wyze MCP server you connect to. Your Wyze Scale, Scale S, or Scale X talks to the Wyze app, and the Wyze app writes weight and body fat into Apple Health. Wellness Project reads that hub, structures the readings into one continuous history, and serves that history to Claude and ChatGPT over a single MCP connection. So the real chain is Wyze to Apple Health, then Wellness Project, then Claude or ChatGPT. We never touch Wyze directly, and we do not pretend to.
Why go through Apple Health at all
Routing through Apple Health is not a workaround, it is the sturdier design. Apple Health is the one place the Wyze app already holds a permission to write to, so there is no extra token to babysit and nothing to re-authorize every few weeks. When Wyze ships an app update, your data keeps flowing because the contract is between Wyze and the phone, not between Wyze and us.
It also means every other device you own can join the same history. The Wyze scale reports your morning weight and body fat, an Apple Watch reports the workout, an Oura ring reports the sleep, and they all land in the same hub. Wellness Project reads the whole picture, so your AI coach sees body composition next to training load next to recovery, instead of one number stranded in the Wyze app.
Set it up in four steps
The setup is short because the phone does the heavy lifting. Point Wyze at Apple Health first, let Wellness Project read it, then point Claude or ChatGPT at your account.
Sync Wyze into Apple Health
Open the Wyze app, tap your scale, tap the gear, then tap Authorize 3rd-Party Apps and select Apple Health. Allow Wyze to write Weight and Body Fat. Apple Health is the intermediary that holds what your scale measures. On Android the Wyze Scale, Scale S, and Scale X write only to Google Fit and Fitbit today, not to Health Connect, so this relay is an iPhone path for those models until Wyze adds Health Connect support.
Let Wellness Project read the hub
In the Wellness Project app, grant Apple Health permission. It reads what Wyze deposited and structures it into one history: your weight trend and body-composition changes, keyed to your baseline. This is a read of Apple Health, not a connection to Wyze.
Add the MCP connector to Claude or ChatGPT
Add the Wellness Project connector to Claude (via MCP) or ChatGPT (via the connector). One connection is all it takes, and it covers everything in your hub, not just the scale. Claude and ChatGPT are the two AI integrations Wellness Project supports today.
Ask about your weight and body composition
Ask Claude or ChatGPT how your weight is trending, whether your body fat moved this month, or whether the drop this week is water or a real shift. In chat, tools like show_body_weight render a live chart of the trend, so you see the line, not just a sentence.
That is the entire flow. No Wyze login on our side, no real-time promise we cannot keep. Freshness tracks whenever the Wyze app syncs to Apple Health, and Wellness Project reads it from there.
The platform caveat, stated plainly
iPhone and Android are not equal here, and it is worth being blunt about it. On iPhone, the Wyze Scale, Scale S, and Scale X write weight and body fat into Apple Health, Wellness Project reads it, and the relay works end to end. On Android those same models sync only to Google Fit and Fitbit, not to Google Health Connect, which is the hub Wellness Project reads. Google is retiring the Google Fit APIs, so Fit is a dead end for this path, not a bridge.
Wyze added native Health Connect support on the newer Scale Ultra Bodyscan and is likely to extend it to more models, so Android owners should open the Wyze app and check whether a Health Connect option has appeared under third-party sync. Until your model writes to Health Connect, the reliable route today is an iPhone plus Apple Health. Either way, you add exactly one connector to Claude or ChatGPT and read everything in one place.
Put your Wyze weigh-ins in front of an AI that remembers them.
Sync your Wyze scale to Apple Health, store it in Wellness Project, and let Claude or ChatGPT read your weight and body fat against your baseline. It is the setup our founder uses every morning. Free during early access.
