What Garmin data reaches Gemini
The working path today is Garmin → Garmin Connect → Apple Health or Health Connect → Wellness Project → your AI assistant. That means you can use Garmin data with AI now without waiting for a direct Garmin account connection.
Coverage is limited by what Garmin Connect writes into the phone hub. Steps, sleep, heart rate, and workouts can cross when Garmin exports them. Garmin HRV does not reach Wellness Project through Apple Health or Health Connect, and proprietary Garmin-only fields such as Body Battery or Training Status should not be assumed to cross the bridge.
Gemini does not receive a bulk wearable export. It asks Wellness Project for the supported rows needed for the question, through the authorized custom MCP app in Gemini Spark.
The bridge works now. Direct Garmin sync is still worth joining the waitlist for.
You do not have to wait to use Garmin with AI: the Apple Health or Health Connect relay works today for the categories Garmin exports. But the relay is still a relay, and it leaves some Garmin data behind. HRV is the clearest known gap.
Wellness Project is working on a direct Garmin integration. Join the existing direct-sync waitlist if you want a path that is not dependent on the phone hub and so we can measure demand for the direct connection. Joining does not change the bridge you can use today.
How to connect Garmin to Gemini
Your setup screen may look different.
AI assistants change their settings and navigation frequently. Menu names and steps can vary by web, desktop, or mobile client, device and operating system, plan, account type, version, and staged rollout. Treat the instructions on this page as a current guide and look for the equivalent Apps, Connectors, Plugins, or MCP controls if your version differs.
Let Garmin Connect write to your phone health hub
In Garmin Connect, enable Apple Health sharing on iPhone or Health Connect sharing on Android and allow the supported categories you want to relay.
Connect that hub to Wellness Project
In Wellness Project, connect Apple Health or Health Connect and grant read permission. Wellness Project reads the hub; it does not sign into your Garmin account on this path.
Confirm the bridged Garmin rows arrived
Check recent steps, sleep, heart rate, and workouts in Wellness Project before connecting the assistant. If Garmin did not export a category to the hub, the assistant will not see it.
Add Wellness Project as a custom app in Gemini Spark
Open gemini.google.com/spark, go to Settings → Personal intelligence → Connected apps → Add custom app, paste https://wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, leave client credentials blank, and sign in to authorize Wellness Project.
Ask Gemini about your real history
Start with a bounded date range and a concrete question. For example: "Compare my Garmin-sourced sleep and resting heart rate over the last month." The assistant can then request the relevant Wellness Project rows instead of reasoning from a screenshot or one-off export.
What to ask Gemini once Garmin is connected
The useful prompts compare your own history over time. These examples are shaped around the data this source actually sends to Wellness Project.
- Compare my Garmin-sourced sleep and resting heart rate over the last month.
- Which of my workout weeks had the biggest step total, and how did sleep change?
- Summarize the workouts that reached Wellness Project from Garmin this month and flag gaps in the bridge.
Limits of the Garmin → Wellness Project → Gemini path
There is no direct Garmin account integration in Wellness Project yet. The bridge only carries categories Garmin Connect actually exports to Apple Health or Health Connect.
Garmin HRV does not come through either current bridge. Garmin-specific scores and training fields can also stay inside Garmin Connect. Wellness Project is working on a direct Garmin integration; the waitlist is for that direct path, not a second version of the bridge.
Gemini is reading an authorized Wellness Project MCP connection, not a native Garmin integration supplied by Gemini's developer.
Connect Garmin, then ask Gemini.
Sync the supported history into Wellness Project, authorize Gemini, and ask questions against your real trend instead of exporting files or pasting screenshots.
