What Garmin data reaches Grok
The path is Garmin Connect to Wellness Project to your AI assistant. Authorize your Garmin account in Settings → Devices. No Apple Health or Health Connect relay is required for new supported data.
Garmin sends data after authorization as your watch syncs. The direct connection does not backfill earlier Garmin history, and proprietary scores such as Body Battery and Training Status are not imported. Older data already shared into Apple Health or Health Connect can remain available through those independent connections.
Grok does not receive a bulk wearable export. It asks Wellness Project for the supported rows needed for the question, through the authorized custom MCP connector.
How to connect Garmin to Grok
Your setup screen may look different.
AI assistants change their settings and navigation frequently. Menu names and steps can vary by web, desktop, or mobile client, device and operating system, plan, account type, version, and staged rollout. Treat the instructions on this page as a current guide and look for the equivalent Apps, Connectors, Plugins, or MCP controls if your version differs.
Connect your Garmin account directly
Open Wellness Project Settings → Devices → Garmin, choose Connect Garmin and grant Garmin permissions.
Sync your Garmin watch
Let Garmin Connect receive your new watch data. Wellness Project processes the supported activity and health summaries Garmin delivers after authorization.
Check the Garmin data that arrived
Open your Wellness Project dashboard to confirm recent workouts, HRV, sleep and daily health metrics before asking your assistant about them.
Add Wellness Project as a custom connector in Grok
In grok.com, open Settings → Connectors → New Connector → Custom, paste https://wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, leave Client ID and Client Secret blank, and sign in when Grok opens the Wellness Project authorization flow.
Ask Grok about your real history
Start with a bounded date range and a concrete question. For example: "Compare my Garmin sleep and HRV across the last two weeks." The assistant can then request the relevant Wellness Project rows instead of reasoning from a screenshot or one-off export.
What to ask Grok once Garmin is connected
The useful prompts compare your own history over time. These examples are shaped around the data this source actually sends to Wellness Project.
- Compare my Garmin sleep and HRV across the last two weeks.
- Which of my Garmin workout weeks had the highest running distance?
- Summarize the new Garmin workouts that reached Wellness Project and identify any missing dates.
Limits of the Garmin → Wellness Project → Grok path
The direct Garmin connection has no historical backfill. It receives supported Garmin data delivered after account authorization.
Supported measurements vary by Garmin device and permissions. Garmin-specific branded scores such as Body Battery and Training Status are not imported as scores.
Grok is reading an authorized Wellness Project MCP connection, not a native Garmin integration supplied by Grok's developer.
Connect Garmin, then ask Grok.
Sync the supported history into Wellness Project, authorize Grok, and ask questions against your real trend instead of exporting files or pasting screenshots.
