How to export Fitbit data

Your Fitbit data can be exported through Google Takeout. Here is how to get a copy, and an easier way to keep the data useful afterward.

Export your Fitbit data through Google Takeout

Google Takeout is the current path for downloading a copy of your Fitbit data. Use it when you want a personal archive, need to move your data, or want a file you can keep outside the app.

  1. 1

    Open Google Takeout

Sign in to Google Takeout with the Google account connected to Fitbit.

  2. 2

    Select Google Health

Choose Google Health from the list of data you can export, then continue to the export options.

  3. 3

    Create the export

Start the export and let Google prepare the archive.

  4. 4

Download it when Google notifies you

Use the download link from Google to save your export somewhere you trust.

An archive answers today's question, not next month's

A Google Takeout archive is useful for the moment you need it: a doctor visit, a personal backup, or moving your data somewhere else. It does not keep updating as you continue wearing your Fitbit.

Wellness Project keeps supported Fitbit data connected, so an AI coach can answer a new question about your trend later without you exporting the history again.

Evelyn Cross reads this for you.

Keep it connected instead of exporting again

If you are exporting Fitbit data because you want to actually use it, not just archive it, a live connection can save you from repeating the export. See the Fitbit integration, or connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about your own data directly.

Keep your Fitbit data connected, not exported once.

Wellness Project keeps supported Fitbit history connected and queryable by an AI coach. Free Basic, with Founder Pro at $4.99/month through October 15. iPhone, Android, and web.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export my Fitbit data?+

Use Google Takeout to request a copy of your Google Health data. Google prepares the export and sends you a download link when it is ready.

How do I get Fitbit data into an AI assistant instead of a spreadsheet?+

Claude and ChatGPT can analyze files you upload, but an exported file is still a snapshot. Wellness Project keeps supported Fitbit data connected so you can ask about your current history without exporting it again.
