How to connect WHOOP to Grok

Wellness Project connects directly to your WHOOP account through WHOOP authorization. Apple Health and Health Connect are not required for this integration. Grok then reads the synced history through Wellness Project's custom MCP connector, rather than signing into WHOOP itself.

Connect WHOOP to Wellness Project first, then authorize Grok through Wellness Project's MCP connection so the assistant can query the supported synced history.

What WHOOP data reaches Grok

WHOOP is a direct Wellness Project source, not a phone-hub relay. Once you authorize your WHOOP account, supported sleep, HRV, resting-heart-rate, and workout history can live beside the rest of your Wellness Project data and become available to connected AI assistants.

Wellness Project does not relabel WHOOP's proprietary Recovery or Strain scores as if they were raw measurements. The assistant can reason over the supported inputs and workout history that are actually synced.

Grok does not receive a bulk wearable export. It asks Wellness Project for the supported rows needed for the question, through the authorized custom MCP connector.

How to connect WHOOP to Grok

Your setup screen may look different.

AI assistants change their settings and navigation frequently. Menu names and steps can vary by web, desktop, or mobile client, device and operating system, plan, account type, version, and staged rollout. Treat the instructions on this page as a current guide and look for the equivalent Apps, Connectors, Plugins, or MCP controls if your version differs.

  1. 1

    Authorize WHOOP in Wellness Project

Open Settings → Devices → WHOOP and complete WHOOP account authorization. This is a direct account connection; Apple Health and Health Connect are not part of the path.

  2. 2

Confirm supported recovery and workout data

Check that recent sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, and workouts are present before asking the assistant to compare trends.

  3. 3

Add Wellness Project as a custom connector in Grok

In grok.com, open Settings → Connectors → New Connector → Custom, paste https://wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp, leave Client ID and Client Secret blank, and sign in when Grok opens the Wellness Project authorization flow.

  4. 4

Ask Grok about your real history

Start with a bounded date range and a concrete question. For example: "How has my overnight HRV moved over the last six weeks, and what happened to sleep on the lowest weeks?" The assistant can then request the relevant Wellness Project rows instead of reasoning from a screenshot or one-off export.

What to ask Grok once WHOOP is connected

The useful prompts compare your own history over time. These examples are shaped around the data this source actually sends to Wellness Project.

  • How has my overnight HRV moved over the last six weeks, and what happened to sleep on the lowest weeks?
  • Compare my resting heart rate after hard workout days with easier weeks.
  • Summarize my WHOOP-sourced workouts this month and show whether sleep duration changed with training frequency.

Limits of the WHOOP → Wellness Project → Grok path

WHOOP does not report steps through its API, so step count must come from a phone or another connected source if you want it in the same analysis.

Do not describe Wellness Project as importing or recreating proprietary WHOOP Recovery or Strain scores when the underlying API data is what is actually available.

Grok is reading an authorized Wellness Project MCP connection, not a native WHOOP integration supplied by Grok's developer.

Connect WHOOP, then ask Grok.

Sync the supported history into Wellness Project, authorize Grok, and ask questions against your real trend instead of exporting files or pasting screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

Does Grok connect directly to WHOOP?+

No. Wellness Project connects directly to your WHOOP account through WHOOP authorization. Apple Health and Health Connect are not required for this integration. Grok connects to Wellness Project through its custom MCP connector, not to WHOOP itself.

What WHOOP data can Grok read?+

Supported WHOOP data includes sleep and stages, recovery inputs such as HRV and resting heart rate, and workouts with heart-rate context. WHOOP does not provide steps through its API.

Why can the assistant see WHOOP sleep and HRV but not steps?+

WHOOP does not provide step count through its API. The direct WHOOP integration can supply supported sleep, recovery inputs, and workouts, while steps need to come from another connected source.

Does Grok have a native wearable integration for this?+

No. Grok connects to Wellness Project as a custom MCP connector. Wellness Project is the layer that already synced and structured the health or workout data.

Can I revoke Grok access later?+

Yes. Remove the Wellness Project connection in Grok, or disconnect WHOOP from Wellness Project. The assistant only has access while the authorized MCP connection and the underlying source remain connected.
