What Claude can and cannot see
The Whoop app writes a set of raw signals into Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android: heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and duration, and workouts. That is the hub Wellness Project reads, so those are the numbers Claude ends up seeing once your connection is set up, structured into a history it can query rather than a single reading.
Whoop's recovery percentage and strain number are different. Both are computed inside Whoop's own model, and that proprietary math may not write to the hub as a standalone value, so those two scores generally stay inside the Whoop app. HRV itself can also show up under a generic heart-rate-variability label in the hub rather than Whoop's own wording. Claude still reads the HRV, resting heart rate, and sleep that feed those scores, just not the branded percentage itself.
Is there a Whoop MCP server?
There is no Whoop MCP server. The path is Whoop to the Whoop app to Apple Health or Health Connect to Wellness Project to Claude, over one MCP connection. Wellness Project runs that MCP server, reading the heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep, and workouts the Whoop app deposits in your phone's health hub and serving them to Claude as structured rows.
Once that relay is in place it behaves like any other MCP connection: one connector added to Claude, read-only access to your synced history, and a normal chat where you ask about your numbers instead of pasting in a screenshot. The extra hop through the health hub is invisible after setup. You add the connector once, and Claude reads whatever Whoop has deposited there.
Set it up in five steps
Two settings have to be on before Claude sees anything: the Whoop app has to be writing to your phone's health hub, and Wellness Project has to be reading that same hub. After that, adding the connector to Claude takes about a minute.

Download Wellness Project for iPhone or Android with the buttons above, or sign in on the web. Signing in with Apple or Google takes one tap, the account is free during early access, and this is the app that stores your synced history and serves it to Claude and ChatGPT over MCP.
Let the Whoop app write to your phone's health hub
On iPhone, open the Whoop app, find the Apple Health or integrations setting, and turn it on, granting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep, and workouts. On Android, grant the Whoop app permission to write to Health Connect. This is a Whoop setting, not a Wellness Project one, and it has to be on before anything downstream works.
Connect Wellness Project to that hub
In Wellness Project, connect Apple Health or Health Connect and grant read permission. From then on, whatever the Whoop app writes into the hub gets pulled into your Wellness Project history and structured into heart rate, HRV, sleep, and workouts you can query.
Add the Wellness Project MCP connector to Claude
In claude.ai, add wellnessproject.ai/api/mcp as a custom connector and authorize it through your Wellness Project account. Claude Desktop syncs the connector from claude.ai, so you only add it once.
Ask about your data in plain language
Open a chat and ask. "How does my HRV this week compare to last month?" "Did my resting heart rate change on short-sleep nights?" Claude pulls the structured rows that reached your history through the health hub and answers from your actual numbers.
What to ask Claude once it is connected
Because Claude reads a structured history rather than tonight's single number, the prompts that work best name a metric and a window of time.
Try "How does my HRV this week compare to my thirty-day baseline?" Try "Did my resting heart rate change on the nights I slept less than six hours?" Try "How did my sleep duration last week compare to the week before?" Each of those pulls real rows from your synced Whoop-sourced history instead of a general answer.
Read your Whoop signals in Claude, not just the Whoop app.
