What ChatGPT can and cannot see
Whoop's recovery percentage and its strain number are proprietary scores, computed inside Whoop's own app and tuned to Whoop's model. Those two numbers stay inside Whoop and generally do not write to Apple Health or Health Connect as standalone values, so ChatGPT has no path to read the branded score itself.
What does cross is the raw material those scores are built from: sleep stages and duration, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, and workouts. Whoop writes those into Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android as part of its normal sync, Wellness Project reads them from there, and ChatGPT reads them through Wellness Project. You lose the single Whoop percentage; you keep every signal that feeds it.
Is there a Whoop MCP server?
There is no Whoop MCP server. The path is Whoop to the Whoop app to Apple Health or Health Connect to Wellness Project to ChatGPT, over one MCP connection. Wellness Project runs that MCP server, reading the sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, and workouts the Whoop app deposits in your phone's health hub and serving them to ChatGPT as structured rows.
That sounds like a lot of hops, but only one of them is yours to set up. The Whoop app already writes to the health hub as part of how it syncs today, and ChatGPT reaches everything through a single Wellness Project connection you add once. From where you sit, it is one connector, not four separate links to maintain.
Set it up in five steps
Get the Wellness Project app
Download Wellness Project for iPhone or Android with the buttons above, or sign in on the web. Signing in with Apple or Google takes one tap, the account is free during early access, and this is the app that stores your synced history and serves it to Claude and ChatGPT over MCP.
Let the Whoop app write to your phone's health hub
On iPhone, open the Whoop app and turn on the Apple Health connection, sharing heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep, and workouts. On Android, grant the Whoop app permission to write to Google Health Connect. This is a Whoop setting, not a Wellness Project one, and it takes about a minute.
Connect Wellness Project to that hub
In Wellness Project, open Settings, Devices, and connect Apple Health or Health Connect with read permission. Whatever Whoop has already written into the hub pulls into your Wellness Project history and gets structured into sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, and workouts you can query.
Add the Wellness Project MCP connector to ChatGPT
Add Wellness Project as a ChatGPT plugin and authenticate with the key from your account settings. This is the one connection ChatGPT reads your Whoop-sourced data through, set up once rather than pasted in each session.
Ask about your data in plain language
Open a new chat and ask. ChatGPT pulls the structured rows from your Wellness Project history and answers from your own numbers, not a generic script about recovery.
What to ask ChatGPT once it is connected
The prompts worth asking are the ones a single Whoop screen cannot answer, because they span weeks or compare one stretch of training against another. That is exactly what a synced history is for.
Try "How has my resting heart rate trended over the last three months?" Try "Is my sleep duration more consistent this month than last?" Try "Did my HRV move the week I traveled?" Try "Compare my average sleep stages this quarter to last quarter." ChatGPT answers each one from your own synced rows, not a general script about recovery.
Route your Whoop data to ChatGPT the way it actually works.
Let the Whoop app sync to Apple Health or Health Connect, connect that hub to Wellness Project, and add ChatGPT. Free during early access.
